The Snowmellow Alpine™ race team is a competitive alpine ski racing program that provides training and coaching for skiers between High School, 2nd year U14 – FIS. Our program is designed to help athletes develop their skiing skills, build physical strength, and foster a love for the sport in a supportive team environment.
The program includes on-snow training, dryland physical conditioning, video analysis, and race tactics. We focus on developing technical skills, physical strength, and mental resilience. Off-season conditioning sessions are also available to help athletes stay in peak condition year-round.
Training primarily takes place at Swain and Brantling Resorts, which offers a variety of terrain suitable for all levels of ski racing. We also host training camps and clinics at various ski resorts to provide exposure to different snow conditions and challenging courses.
Generally, we offer training sessions several times a week during the ski season, including weekends and some weekdays.
Athletes must have race-specific ski equipment, including race skis, boots, poles, helmets, and protective gear such as shin guards, and mouth guards
Yes, Snowmellow Alpine™ participates in various local, regional, and national competitions throughout the ski season. Our athletes compete in slalom, giant slalom, super-G, and downhill events, depending on their age and skill level.
Most athletes will compete in the NYSSRA (https://nyssra.org/), which typically includes 4 to 6 council races. However, there are out-of-state and out-of-regional racing opportunities.
The tuition at Snowmellow Alpine™ varies based on age group and training level. Tuition covers coaching, training sessions, and race support for NYSSRA race schedules.
Postseason and travel race fees are divided by the number of athletes attending.
A season pass at Swain or Brantling is required.
All NYSSRA-only athletes are required to register with NYSSRA and US Ski and Snowboard.
FIS athletes must also apply for an FIS racing license.
We inform our athletes and their families through TeamSnap (a dedicated team app)
We encourage all athletes to commit to regular training sessions and competitions to get the most out of the program. However, we understand that each athlete’s level of commitment may vary based on their personal goals and other commitments.
